Established in 1908, Café Aliança is one of the oldest cafés in Portugal. For many years, this space was a reference for the arts, since it was the meeting point for writers like Fernando Pessoa and singers like Amália.
When I was asked to develop a new identity I felt the pressure to respect this space and return it to its former glory, without messing it up. The façade of the building was the main inspiration. Its height, beauty and detail is as beautiful as it is part of the city. I wanted the logo to feel the same, as it was part of the café from the day it opened in 1908.
The typography chosen is tall, elegant, and beautiful. The lion is one of the elements in the façade and was tuned to exhaustion. The building itself gave me and the interior designers the rest of the inspiration and elements to complement the logo.
